Open Symphony

A wise man once gazed onto work of great brilliance and declared, "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." This deep dive into Boom Supersonic's "Symphony" engine will have you saying the same.

As the saying lives on, so does the debate about what exactly that person was looking at. The petals of a rose? The Sistine Chapel? Fireworks? A freakin' awesome rollercoaster? Or an independently designed and manufactured jet engine for supersonic commercial flight? Could be. Truth, as some other anonymous self once said, is stranger than fiction.

In place of etymological details, we were more concerned with the twists and turns of 3D animation. We brought in our mastermind, Peter Godshall, to turn very scientific designs and very shiny prototypes into the flight of a very audacious fly on the wall. And this nitty gritty looks pretty pretty.

If you've ever had trouble getting your toaster to work just right – and let's be honest, who hasn't? – then you're likely to appreciate the sight of so many moving parts working in perfect harmony. Working a bit like a symphony [wink].
